Cabin Fever

This is the time of year where I get down cause I can't do the one thing I enjoy and since the snow isn't falling like I want it too so I can get out and work to help me not to think much about fishing, I'm stuck inside thinking this year isn't over yet I can still catch one more and as soon as you step outside the cold air blast you in the face and you are like I think I will stay inside.  Or you sit and think about how you could of had a better year or beat yourself trying to think of what went wrong.  I have come to the conclusion that even years are my off years and the odd are my best years but that will be put to the test when it comes to open season again.  But however there are some positives about having cabin fever is that I am spending time with my wife when she is not at work cause she gets frustrated too when I am gone a lot or the fact that she can't go when I do.  I hope next year will be a better year and I have a lot of photos to post up and brag about.

2012 Year end review

I believe my fishing is done for 2012 but there might be a couple more chances for me to get out and fish before we get snow.  This year has been rough the biggest Cat I caught was almost 5 pounds but here is the report.

Overall Fishing Log Statistics For 2012

» Year: 2012
» Days Fished: 37
» Fish Caught: 40
» Locations Fished: 3
» Patterns Fished: 5
» Most fish caught in one day: 4 on March 18th, 2012

Most Caught Fish Species

Fish Species  Number of Fish Caught
Bluegill    21
Catfish - Channel    15
Catfish - Bullhead    3
Blue Catfish    1

Though I tried many different baits or concoctions I had some success an posted those in my bait recipes page.
I also tried to follow best times to fish but however a lot of my times were off but at least I tried.
I also have been upgraded in technology and now have an IPhone4 and have gotten a lot of good apps for when I go out to use but the one thing I came across and will try next year and that is watching the barometric pressure simply in one of the apps I have it showed that if pressure is rising poor fishing steady = good fishing and falling = excellent fishing something I will look into for next year and so far I tried it once when I went out Nov. 10th the pressure was rising and I only had a couple of bites.
A lot of anglers may already know this but I am still learning and trying to prefect my fishing if this fails I will just go with what my wife say "The fish will bite when they are hungry".
See you next season till then tight lines for those who fish the winter.

Went out yesterday

I wanted to go fishing Wednesday but was busy but since the weather was nice still on Thursday I took my son and a friend of his out to the park to fish.  We were getting good bites and I finally hooked in to a big monster well it acted like a big monster but when I reeled it in there wasn't much of a fight so here is my big monster a little yellow belly bullhead.

Went fishing

Yesterday my son and I went out for an hour I was set for the weather even though I told Nathan to dress warm he didn't want to listen to me but we still had fun cause we were getting some good bites.  So after the kids went to school and I winterized  our boat I went fishing from 10 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. today.   I am glad to be able to report I caught a fish it was a 22 in. 3.22 lb. Channel Cat.  I am planning on going out again a few more times before I take a break for the winter and typing up my year end report.

Pay Lakes

I know I fish a couple of them since they are close to home and when I can't get the boat out that is where I go just to get out and fish but with me learning more about conservation of our trophy catfish I understand why pay lakes are a bad thing so next year I plan to do my fishing differently by getting the boat out more or bank fishing at the reservoirs and rivers close to me.

Been Busy

Since we have been without internet for about a month which we get back on soon I have been able to fish a few times in between the kids football practice and games on Saturdays. I haven't caught any fish but have been using a few new bait recipes that have gotten a lot of bites just no hook ups and thinking in changing hook size but the bait I use stays on the hook better than chicken liver. But as football is coming to an end in the next couple of weeks I will be able to fish a little more as my fishing season is starting to come to an end as well until the spring.

Another for 2012

Kevin and I got out this past Sunday and went to Paul's Lake and fished about 6 hours but mostly fed them our bait or they were stealing it off our hooks, but we had a good time out.  Now today my son Nathan and I went to our local park and spent a few hours fishing.  The bite started off slow then things started to pick up and I managed to catch this little Channel Cat.

Went Fishing

I wanted to go fishing so I invited Stephanie, Nathan, Kevin, and Jeff.  We loaded up and went to Three Waters Campground, we got there about 9 p.m. Stephanie spent the night with a fish that kept taking her bait, Kevin and I didn't get a bite, Nathan got one bite then went to sleep, and Jeff he caught two Channel Cats one 2.5 lb. 20 in. and a smaller one.

Stephanie's PB

This photo has a story behind it that I will share with my grandchildren someday.  I took 2 Nephews (Jeremy & William), 1 Niece (Tiffany), My son (Nathan), My Step-daughter (Makayla), My lovely wife (Stephanie), 2 neighbor kids and myself went to our local park to fish for a few hours, we started about 7 p.m. and Nathan had caught the first fish which was a Bluegill which had turn into bait.  About 8 p.m. Stephanie had joined us and all I had was the pole I use for catching Bluegill.  She was not interested in catching Bluegill so I had set her up for catching Catfish and she proceeded to fish, as she was setting up her chair, one of the neighbor kids had told her she was getting a bite and as she turned around we both watched my fishing pole disappear into the water.  After a ten minute search and rescue I was able to retrieve my fishing pole and the fish that had took it which turned out to be a 2 lb. 20 in. Channel Cat.

2012

For some reason I was unable to get into my old blog so since I am new to blogging I created another one, and in this post here are the cats we have caught so far for 2012.
