For chicken livers I lay them out trying to save as much blood as I can, then I will coat them in garlic salt or garlic powder and sometimes use them both. Leave them in the sun for 4 to 6 hours, at times I will turn the liver piece's over to toughen that side as well I usually will check them over at the half way time.
I had found and made this bait and had some success and great to use if
you don't have the cash to buy any bait but the measurements are for a
small amount but I forgot to write down how much I used to fill a big
butter bowl.
In a butter bowl put 1/2 cup of flour and a 1/2 cup of cornmeal and
mix till blended. Then put 3 to 4 torn cotton balls on top. In a sauce
pan on low heat mix 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup pancake syrup, and 3 tsp. of
creamy peanut butter and stir till blended well. Then remove from heat
and pour into flour mix and stir till have a ball. You may have to add
more flour or cornmeal to thicken it up but you want it to be able to
stay on a hook and I used a single circle hook since some of the places I
fish don't allow treble hooks. Until my next concoction tight lines!!!
Here is another bait recipe I use and stays on the hook better, go buy a pack of chicken breast usually three to four pieces in it and grab three packs of sugar free strawberry jello or you could use strawberry/banana jello a jar of garlic powder and the gallon ziplock storage bags. When you get home cut the chicken breast into 1/2 to 1 inch squares then take your ziplock bag put your three packs of jello and a table spoon of garlic powder in and mix it up then add your chicken breast and shake the bag then put in fridge till you are ready to go fishing.
